A few of this month's outstanding festivals are featured below.  Get out and sample what they are offering!

"Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Moxie" Festival occurs July 9-11 in Lisbon, Maine.  From the Moxie Festival website:

"Moxie is the uniquely New England soft drink, former nostrum and "nerve food". Dr. Augustin Thompson of Union, Maine, first marketed Moxie as a patent medicine in1876 in Lowell, Massachusetts. It was guaranteed to cure multiple ills, including "loss of manhood, paralysis and softening of the brain". As a nostrum, it was dispensed a spoonful at a time."  How could you not want to check that out???

Another event not to be missed is the Harpoon Championships of New England Barbecue featuring a celebration of the best of Summer—fresh beer, great BBQ, & live music at the Harpoon Brewery in Windsor, VT.  Forty barbecue teams will compete July 24th and 25th.

Not to over do Vermont festivals, but the Vermont Cheesemakers Festival is also on July 25th.  Vermont is the premium artisanal cheese state with the highest number of cheesemakers per capita: over 40 of them! They invite you to experience their passion for making fine cheeses, taste local and fresh foods, and meet the artisans who make them. Spend a high summer day along the shores of Lake Champlain at the historic Shelburne Farms Coach Barn sampling, buying, learning, and networking.
