Maine
Maine is the largest blueberry producer in the world, and with almost 3,500 miles of coastline, is renowned for its fresh seafood; clams, oysters, mussels, bay scallops, salmon and steelhead trout. Rockland's Maine Lobster Festival has been held evey year since 1947 cooking over 20,000lbs of luscious lobster annually. Some states have their wine trails, Maine offers a Beer Trail and is home to over 20 microbreweries that produce 100 different brands of ales and lagers.
Heirloom veggies and Maine-made products can be found at seasonal markets and festivals; which is how specialty foods vendor, Stonewall Kitchen got its start back in 1991 on a card table at a farmer's market.
